Beach House In The Woods
Situated on a tidal inlet from Long Island Sound, this new modern home is nestled within a landscape of indigenous grasses. A long boardwalk leads you to a uniquely placed front door. The house is perched higher than the prior structure to avoid the rising waters, which also results in striking views in all directions.
This home is all about lifestyle. Both the living and family rooms have direct access to the raised structural pool area, which includes an integrated spa and screen porch. A glass bridge spans an existing stream, connecting the main house to the studio and garage wing. Although our clients fully embrace modernism, they also respect the traditional elements of the neighborhood. As a result, their new home blurs the lines stylistically between a conventional shingle style structure and a contemporary home. The result is reminiscent of traditional New England buildings but with window placement that is deliberate and asymmetrical.
