Master Plan

Beinfield Architecture has been involved in a number of master plan iterations for Georgetown, Connecticut. The master plan creates an interconnected pedestrian and vehicular network, woven around existing buildings and carefully sited public spaces. These public spaces capitalize on the waterfall and lake views and the relationship between the existing mill buildings and the water.
The site, a collection of historic brick mill buildings, poses many challenges as a brownfield development. Prior plans, while well-designed, were problematic given the environmental concerns and development parcel patterns. Beinfield Architecture’s re-envisioned master plan accommodates smaller, more feasible development parcels and new information on the site’s environmental constraints, aiming to make development of this site more favorable to potential development partners.
